Sheffield Players Turn On Each Other
Frustrations got the better of Sheffield United players after the English Premier League’s (EPL) lowest-ranked club lost 1-0 to the Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday, Sunday 25 February.
The Wolves hosted their rivals at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England, where they had been unbeaten for their last eight games against Sheffield. Despite the odds being stacked against them, the visitors made a promising start to the match.
However, things began to go sideways 30 minutes into the game, as Pablo Sarabia scored the first and only goal for the hosts with help from his teammate, Rayan Aït-Nouri.
A heated argument ensued between Blades duo Vinícius Souza and Jack Robinson before captain Anel Ahmedhodzic stepped in. The incident was reviewed by VAR but the feuding pair ultimately escaped without punishment.
Sheffield manager, Chris Wilder, seemed to be eager to dismiss the incident, saying: “I don’t want to see it every week but if it takes something like that to get people going, I thought we got going anyway, so there’s [sic] two boys desperate to win, let’s not make too much of it.”
For Sheffield, who are currently sitting at the very bottom of the EPL table with a mere 13 points, the match is simply one more humiliating defeat added to their 2023/2024 campaign.
